Facts about Paper Towel Usage

It is estimated that Americans use around 13 billion pounds of paper towels each year, which requires cutting down millions of trees and consumes a significant amount of energy and water.

  1. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), paper towels make up the largest component of municipal solid waste in the United States.
  2. The average person uses 2 to 3 paper towels per hand drying session, which can add up to over 3,000 paper towels per year.
  3. It's estimated that paper towel usage adds up to about 254 million tons of waste annually.

Additionally, paper towels cannot be recycled once they have been used, and they can take years to decompose in landfills. Switching to reusable alternatives can significantly reduce our environmental footprint.
